In the case in which we are interested, a wireless device running DD-WRT such as a WRT54G is configured as a Wireless Bridge between a remote wireless router (of any make/brand) and the Ethernet ports on the WRT54G. Luckily, most iterations of the DD-WRT firmware offer a solution. This trusty open-source firmware has a feature called a repeater bridge. With DD-WRT, a wireless bridge connecting two LAN segments is possible using a wireless link. The two segments are on the same subnet, allowing broadcasts to reach all machines.
