I have a PPTP VPN server on a dd-wrt flashed router that I've used for years. About three weeks ago it stopped working. I've tried everything including reflashing the router, trying another working dd-wrt with PPTP VPN server enabled, and various VPN clients on various computers and phones on other networks which I know don't block any ports.

In the end it has turned out that the VPN issue was caused not by router itself but by my service provider - later they told that through some security hole in Microsoft software they were recently severe hacked and they decided to close ports very tightly.
