Based on the Asuswrt firmware developed by Asus, it brings tweaks, new features and other improvements to the original firmware, while retaining its performance and ease of use. As of early March 2018, the current stable Asuswrt-Merlin firmware release is version 384.3. My RT-AC88U is still on the Asuswrt-Merlin 380.69_2 firmware.
