I don't need nor want to use the remote DNS server, ever, I always want DNS resolution to be performed on the local server, this will fix my problem, hence my question focusing on DNS. I could probably use a firewall rule to block access to the remote DNS server, but this doesn't fix the underlying misconfiguration problem.
